2016 William Hill World Championship Preview

Today sees the start of the PDC’s big event of the year, the William Hill World Championship.  From its humble beginnings in 1994, the tournament has become largest single darts event in the world.  A total of 72 players will be contesting this year’s event, which carries a purse of some $2.2 million.

The US is again represented by the redoubtable Darin Young.  We have a few days to wait, however, as “Big Daddy” doesn’t take to the stage until next Tuesday evening(December 22).  In the very last of the first-round matches, Young faces Terry Jenkins at approximately 10pm local time (5pm Eastern/4pm Central).  A win will see Young engage in second-round action on Monday, December 28.

Of course, we do have another American to watch on Sunday evening, although he will actually be representing Singapore this time!  That is Paul Lim, and he will be in combat in a preliminary round tie against Aleksandr Oreshkin at 7pm local time (2pm Eastern/1pm Central).  A victory against Oreshkin gives Lim a first-round clash with Mervyn King later that evening.

As usual, results and updates will be posted here.  Good luck and Good darts!
