2016 William Hill World Championship Update (Day Four)

As Day 4 of the PDC’s William Hill World Championship drew to a close, San Bernadino’s Paul Lim exited the tournament at the hands of Aleksandr Oreshkin.  After leveling the score at 1-1, Lim gave himself two darts for the match, but failed to convert them, allowing the Russian to earn a first-round clash with Mervyn King.

Lim isn’t the only big name to fall at the first hurdle, with seeds Ian White (9), Simon Whitlock (10), and Kim Huybrechts (12) joining the former Pacific Cup Singles Champion on the sidelines.  Top seed Michael van Gerwen was almost another early casualty, surviving a tense tie-breaker again German Rene Eidams.

There are three more days of Preliminary Round/First Round action before Christmas, with Darin Young carrying American hopes on Tuesday evening.
