Yesterday (Saturday) brought the completion of the first round, and again there were shocks.  The biggest upset was the defeat of twice Lakeside World Champion Scott Waites, who went down to James Hurrell.  There could have been another handful of World Champs going home early, as Glen Durrant, Martin Adams, and Scott Mitchell were all taken to last leg deciders by Brian Dawson, Cameron Menzies, and Umit Uygunsozlu respectively.

In the ladies’ event, the only seed to fall yesterday was Sharon Prins.
