2018 Lakeside World Championship – Day Two Results

Reigning Champ Glen Durrant started the day with a fine 3-0 defeat of Gary Robson.  It wasn’t until the third set that “Robbo” managed to take a leg, and Durrant’s 95.29 proved to be the highest average of the day.

Only just behind him, though, was Welshman Wayne Warren.  Warren’s 95.07 was enough to see off the tough challenge of Dutchman Wesley Harms.  2-1 ahead in sets, Warren opened the fourth in stunning fashion, posting a 12-dart first leg (140, 140, 140, 81), and then kicking off the second with 140, 180, 165!  Three darts later, he still needed 8, and Harms walked up and checked out from 101!  It wasn’t enough, and Wayne cleaned up the next two for the match.

Swede Dennis Nilsson also showed great form (92.56) against another Dutchman, Jeffrey Sparidaans, while fifth seeded Ross Montgomery also broke 90.  However, it didn’t stop him slipping to defeat against Scott Waites.

In the Women’s event, Sharon Prins grabbed a 2-0 win over Maria O’Brien, although the final scoreline is no indication of just how evenly matched the pair were.  It was a bad night for the #5 seeds, as joining Montgomery on the sidelines was Corrine Hammond.  The Aussie went down in 3 against Fallon Sherrock.
