2019 Dafabet US Darts Masters – Day Four

Nathan Aspinall captured the US Darts Masters on his World Series Debut, with a brilliant 8-4 victory over Michael Smith.  After an impressive first-round display against Shawn Brenneman, posting an average of 98.3, Aspinall upped his average every match, recording a superb 106.7 against Smith (who posted 100.1 himself).

The quarter-finals provided shocks as all four seeds tumbled out to some inspired performances.  In the first semi, Smith beat Gerwyn Price in a high-quality encounter, but the Aspinall-Peter Wright clash was something really special.  After eight legs, Wright was looking good with a 5-3 lead.  Both players then kicked it up a notch, with the remaining seven legs all being finished in 14 darts or less!  Crucially for Aspinall, he captured five of them – and the match.

The 27-year-old started the final in scintillating fashion with a 10-dart leg, and clinched the title in 13.
