Founder of the British Darts Organisation (BDO) and Honorary President of the World Darts Federation (WDF), Olly Croft OBE, sadly passed away at the weekend.  He had celebrated his 90th birthday just a week earlier.

Olly formed the BDO in 1973 with just a small handful of county teams,  The organization grew rapidly, and the British Inter-County Championship now comprises nearly 70 counties.  The BDO introduced the World Masters in 1974, and in 1978, staged the first ever BDO World Professional Championship.

Olly Croft will be remembered as one of the most influential people in the history of the sport, and was awarded the OBE in the 2004 Queen’s Honours List, for his services to the sport.  Olly dedicated the award to his late wife Lorna, who passed away the previous year.
