Jose de Sousa made history yesterday as he became the first Portuguese winner of a major televised tournament, when he captured the 2020 BoyleSports Grand Slam of Darts! The 46-year-old stormed to a 16-12 victory over James Wade at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

The win sees de Sousa rise to 15th in the PDC Order of Merit, while Wade is left to reflect on a third Grand Slam final loss. Beaten semi-finalists were Belgian Dimitri Van den Bergh, and Australia’s Simon Whitlock.
