BDO World Trophy – Day Two

Another brilliant display sent Joe Chaney through to the Quarter-Finals of the BDO World Trophy.  While Chaney’s average of 87.38 was lower than yesterday, that was largely due to missed doubles.  However, it was more than enough to see off an out-of-sorts Willem Mandigers by a score of 5-0.

Joe plays again tomorrow afternoon, where he will take on the winner of the Jim Williams-Scott Taylor clash.

Top seed Richard Veenstra squeezed through in a tense nine-legger against Welshman Nick Kenny, but shock of the day was the exit of #4 seed Scott Mitchell. The 2015 World Champ lost a ninth-leg tie-breaker to Pole Sebastian Steyer.

The Women’s event is under way, and the qualifiers for Sunday are led by four-time World Champion Lisa Ashton, current titlist Mikuru Suzuki, and Russian Anastasia Dobromyslova.  Like the men, the women’s quarter-finals start at noon (local time) tomorrow.

Live broadcasts are available from the BDO YouTube channel.
