One of the greatest things about darts – and one of the most often dismissed by those outside of our sport – is the amount of money that is raised from charity and fundraising events.  Here are details of a forthcoming event in New Jersey.  As you can see from the featured photo, the Greater Trenton Dart League handed over a check for $33, 152 in 2015.

Darts for Dreams 11!!!

It is my pleasure to announce that Darts for Dreams 11 is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, 2016, and will take place at Cook Athletic Association in Hamilton, NJ.  The event, which is hosted by the Greater Trenton Dart League, raises money for Make-A-Wish® New Jersey.  100% of the proceeds are directed to the charity, which has now received almost $200,000 in the ten-year history of the event.  The money collected has sponsored thirty wishes for kids in NJ facing life-threatening illnesses.

Unlike many darts events, the Darts for Dreams dart-a-thon is a little different.  The doors open at noon, and play goes from 1.00pm until 6.00pm.  Players can come and go at any time, and still participate.  There is a small donation at the door, and then a $5 charge to play 51-dart countup.  Each hour, the top scores receive prizes, and then the overall high scores for the day, for men, women, team, and youth.  Throughout the day, there are door prizes, raffles, a 50/50, and a silent auction.  Traditionally, after the event, the hall runs a Karaoke night to keep the good times going!

The event started in 2006 as a way to do something for the community in which our players live and play.  We chose MAWNJ at that time, and have been honored to be a part of their wishgranting programs right here in Mercer County.  We’ve had wish families participate in the event, and some have our players, or their children have known our players’ children.  A very powerful connection, right in our own backyard.
