It is with a heavy heart that we report the passing of former ADO Vice-President, Laurett Meddis (pictured with Buddy Bartoletta and Darin Young).

One of the most fanatical supporters and promoters of darts in the U.S., the New York Native was actively involved in the sport for many years, both at the Regional and National levels. Together with her business partner (and former ADO President), Buddy Bartoletta, Laurett hosted many tournaments with LBDarts, including the world-ranked USA Dart Classic. The pair were also instrumental in securing the WDF World Cup for Charlotte, NC, in 2009.

At both tournaments and ADO Board Meetings, Laurett was a wonderful hostess, and basically catered the weekends herself, providing a never-ending supply of food and beverages. 

Then there was Laurett Meddis’ famous ‘Viking’ bar in Islip, Long island, which was the center of the New York darts scene, and was home to many of the area’s top players. Finally, let’s not forget that Laurett was an accomplished player herself, before concentrating on the organizing side of things.
