WDF World Masters Nationals/National Youth Championships

The ADO is delighted to announce that we are going ahead with our first National Finals since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. We are hosting both the World Masters National Finals, along with the ADO National Youth Championships, on Friday, July 9, 2021. These events are being held in Charlotte, NC, in conjunction with the Charlotte Open. Of course, it hasn’t been any easy time for anyone, and circumstances dictate that certain changes have to be made. However, we are dedicated to making this a successful return to action. The basic details of these championships are as follows :

WORLD MASTERS NATIONALS

  1. All players (men and women) who qualified for a 2020 National Finals via the ADO National Playoff System (National Qualifiers), and were unable to compete due to event cancellation, will have their entry and trip transferred to the World Masters National Finals. As always, qualified players will receive entry into the event, along with travel, and expense stipend. We will be contacting all qualified players shortly.

  2. We encourage all ADO Regions to hold National Qualifiers for this event. The more players we can get qualified, the better it is for everyone. These NQ’s should be scheduled via the usual channels, and should be held NO LATER THAN SUNDAY, June 13, 2021.

  3. Any player already qualified for these Championships from a previous National Qualifier (see item 1 above) is not eligible to compete in any new National Qualifier for this event.

  4. As there have been few tournaments held in the last year, with no usable official rankings, any ADO member (men and women) who does not qualify via the National Playoff system, can “buy-in” to the World Masters National Finals for $150, Players “buying-in” will not receive any travel allowance or expense stipend. All players “buying-in” MUST BE REGISTERED AND PAID FOR NO LATER THAN Friday, June 25, 2021. There will be absolutely no exceptions. To register, please contact ADO Director of Operations, Steve Brown, at bullpointer@yahoo.com.
  5. All players competing in the World Masters National Finals MUST be a current member (in good standing) of the ADO. We realize that many associations have not yet joined the ADO for 2021, but hopefully, this Nationals will provide incentive. If your association does not join the ADO before the Nationals, you MUST join as an individual member in order to compete.
  6. On Friday, July 9, registration is at 9.00am, with a 10.00am start.
  7. Dress code for all National Finals is a collared shirt, black dress pants, and dark, closed-toe shoes (not tennis shoes). No headgear/headphones permitted.
  8. Like many businesses, the ADO has suffered financially due to the pandemic, and as it stands, we are only in a position to guarantee the qualification of two men and two women. However, depending on the amount of National Qualifiers held between now and then, and the number of “buy-ins”, we are still hoping that we are able to qualify three or four men.
  9. The WDF World Masters is scheduled for December 2-5, 2021, and will be held in the Netherlands.

ADO NATIONAL YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS

  1. All players competing in the National Youth Championship MUST BE UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT.
  2. There will be separate events for boys and girls, with the winner of each qualifying for the WDF Youth World Masters events.
  3. Should one or both National Champions turn 18 before the World Masters, they will still be eligible to compete, but in the respective men’s/women’s World Masters.
  4. In addition to World Masters qualification, awards from the ADO Memorial Scholarship Fund (MSF) can be earned by the highest place finishers (a maximum of eight players), subject to conditions as stipulated by the MSF.
  5. Pre-registration entry fee is $50 per player, and must be received by Wednesday, June 30, 2021. Entries will be accepted after June 30 at a cost of $75 per player.
