2022 Cazoo Grand Slam of Darts – Weekend Review

It was a disappointing weekend for Leonard Gates, slipping to a brace of defeats that leave him rooted to the bottom of Group F. However, ‘Soldier’ is far from ready to head home. Should Jonny Clayton beat Damon Heta, the Aussie will be eliminated from the tournament, meaning that either Gates or Jermaine Wattimena will join the Welshman in the knockout. The American would simply have to win by three legs.

The two matches will be played tomorrow (Tuesday) evening.

With the last round of group games to be completed tonight and tomorrow, five players so far are guaranteed to advance; Jonny Clayton, Luke Humphries, and the Dutch trio of Michael van Gerwen, Dirk van Duijvenbode, and Raymond van Barneveld.

World Champs Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright, and Rob Cross all still have work to do to join the above five, but it hasn’t been a good weekend for the two female competitors, with Lisa Ashton and Fallon Sherrock both yet to win a game.
