Stowe Buntz’s attempt to finish the group stage unbeaten was thwarted by Dave Chisnall, but he still finished top of the group heading into the knockout rounds. He will be joined there by Stephen Bunting, who condemned twice World Champ Peter Wright to an early exit.

Buntz was a little slow off the mark as Chisnall raced into a 3-0 lead. 3-1 became 3-1, then 3-2 as the American stuck in a nice 12-darter (82, 171, 126, 122). Chizzy broke serve in the sixth leg, only for Buntz to break straight back. This time he held throw, forcing a decider. A 14-darter sealed victory for the Englishman, but Stowe still topped Group E.

Beau Greaves and Fallon Sherrock both slipped to disappointing defeats tonight, so female interest in the event is over.

Tomorrow night sees the first four Top 16 matches (with Gerwyn Price and Gary Anderson as the standout clash), and Thursday sees Stowe Buntz take on UK Open Champion Andrew Gilding. Others on the Thursday menu include Nathan Aspinall and Michael Van Gerwen.
