James Wade and Luke Humphries are the first two Semi-Finalists here in Wolverhampton. Wade pipped World Youth Champion Josh Rock in a last-leg decider, while Humphries recorded yet another three-figure average as he saw off Gary Anderson 16-14.

A well-timed 13-darter put Rock ahead 15-12, needing just the one leg for a famous victory, Wade won the next, but the Northern Irishman missed a dart at tops (from 80) to take it 16-13. When Rock failed to find a triple with one of his first two darts on 106 next leg, the former World Matchplay Champion tied the score.

Wade wired a 121 out in the last leg, giving his opponent three clear darts at 40. Three obviously weren’t enough, and the Englishman found D3 last dart to clinch a place in the Semis.

Anderson was in control for much of his clash with Humphries, leading 5-1 and 8-4 – and all this despite a clinical 170 checkout from the World Grand Prix Champion. Humphries fought back to lead 10-9, and checks of 131 and 132 from the Scot made sure it was 13-13. Anderson then regained the lead, only for the Englishman to take the next three legs, and the match.

Tomorrow night sees Virginia’s Stowe Buntz take on Stephen Bunting – again!
