A letter from our President

I would like to say hello to all member associations and individual members, I am Jim Widmayer your new ADO President. I took over office in July of this year. For those who don’t know who I am, I have been playing darts as an ADO member for over 30 years, National Champion in 1996 and represented the ADO international in many events, World Cup, America’s Cup and World Masters.

I have been in the ADO system for the good years and the bad years and have seen many presidents and board members come and go. I have seen what has been wrong with the ADO and am now trying to right the wrong. It’s not going to happen overnight but myself and the board will get the ADO where it should be. We have new members on the board besides myself and that brings new ideas. Jeff Olson is the new Vice President, Russ Lyzak is the new Area 3 Manager and Dustin Story is the new Area 5 Manager (and our Tech guy) along with Jackie Robbins CFO, Cindy Lynde General Secretary, Carrie Demers National Youth Manager, Ron Peppers Area 1 Manager, Brenda Roush Area2 Manager, Beth Newby Area 4 Manager, Ryan Mooneyham Area 6 Manager and Steve Brown Director of Operations who all previously served on the board.

Since I took over in July, we have been working hard to get things done and give members something to get motivated about. First thing we did was add a Gold Ranking WDF sanctioned 501 Singles event to the Las Vegas Open, this gives our members an opportunity if they win a direct entry into the WDF World Championship at Lakeside. It also brings in more players from around the world, like Deta Hedman, Fallon Sherrock, Cameron Menzies(who all pre-registered) and other international players along with the top American and Canadian players looking for that golden ticket! Hopefully we have done enough to make Las Vegas a good experience for our members and new players that are attending.

Second thing I have done was hire a Tax Attorney to straighten out the ADO’s past financial problems and get our non-profit status back. This won’t be overnight but, but its not going to drag on like it has done the last 15 years and how many ADO Presidents ago! That was a priority on my list and I’m happy to say it’s getting done!

Third item we are addressing is our regional directors. We have a few regions that need taken care of. Anyone interested in becoming an ADO Regional Director please message us. The job duties are association recruitment, running national qualifiers and sanctioning tournaments, and you also get a vote in elections.

Also, Dustin Story along with Steve Brown are working on the ADO website to update it and make it more informative and user friendly. We can use input on what members would think makes it better. Little by little it is getting done.

We have a way to go to get on the right track, we know there is a lot to get done, just be patient as we are all volunteers. We are happy to hear members’ ideas on what they would like to see and what isn’t working. The only way we go is forward. Remember you are the membership, please feel free to message us.

Thank you for your loyalty and patience.

Jim Widmayer

ADO President
