2025 WDF Lakeside World Championship – Finals

After a wonderful week of darts, we have new World Champions crowned! When I say “new”, all four titlists have secured their first World Championship.

Dutchman Jimmy van Schie, current World #1 and reigning World Master, fought back from three sets-down to defeat wonder boy, Mitchell Lawrie. The 15-year-old Scot had van Schie on the ropes after three sets, and could have made it four on the spin had van Schie failed to checkout from 86.

It wasn’t that Lawrie’s game really tailed off after that, but the 86 saw the Top seed step up a gear, and capture 18 of the last 26 legs.

While Lawrie failed to become the youngest ever World Champion at 15, Deta Hedman OBE became the oldest World Champion – at the age of 66! After losing three previous finals, Hedman provided a perfect finish to an incredible year by beating Top seed Lerena Rietbergen by 4 sets to 1. It’s been a long time coming…

Despite losing the final of the senior event, Mitchell Lawrie will be returning home with a World Championship under his belt, besting Florian Preis in the final of the open youth event. Finally, Zehra Gemi made history by becoming the first ever Turkish darts World Champ, beating Rebecca Allen in the girls’ final.
