ADO Eligibility and Ranking Update

By
Updated: August 6, 2025

On July 25, 2025, the World Darts Federation (WDF) released its revised Transgender Athlete Policy. As a member nation of the WDF, the American Darts Organization (ADO) has adopted a policy in alignment with the revised WDF policy.

Effective August 5, 2025, entry and participation in ADO Women’s and Girls hosted and sanctioned events will be open only to players identified as female at birth.

Accordingly, events, national qualifiers, national finals and ranking tables will be renamed and redefined as “Open”, “Women”, “Open Youth”, and “Girls”.

The ADO affirms its support for all members of the darting community. The Open Division ensures that all individuals can participate at the highest level without restriction based on gender identity. We will continue to review and refine our policies in collaboration with legal counsel, diversity advisors, and the broader darts community.

Please contact the ADO Executive Committee with any questions or concerns. The adopted policy is below.

AMERICAN DARTS ORGANIZATION

Female Designated Events Eligibility Policy

FEMALE CATEGORY (Women, Ladies, Girls)

  • These categories are for those participants recorded female at birth, and within definition of female under this policy, which includes females who wish to transition to men, but are not undergoing hormone treatment.
  • Once any individual whose sex is recorded as female at birth commences hormone treatment to transition to a man, then they will no longer be eligible to participate in the Female category.
  • Verification may be required to establish eligibility.

OPEN CATEGORY

  • This category is open to all players.
  • Participants who are eligible to play in both OPEN and FEMALE category events may choose which event to play in. If there is an OPEN and FEMALE event that overlap with each other, the player may only play in one of those events. (Please note, the WDF policy does not allow players to switch between ranking tables within a season.)
