2025 WDF World Masters – Day 1

With the senior round-robin groups complete, there were some outstanding performances from American men, with a number advancing to the knockout rounds. Sadly, for the women, only one was able to make the cut.

Jeff Springer, Jason Brandon, Tom Sawyer, and Dustin Holt all won their groups unbeaten, while Robbie Phillips, Leonard Gates, Charlie Harrison, David Fatum, and Gino Florian secured the second qualifying spots. Springer posted the 12th highest overall average of the day.

The draws for the knockout rounds are as follows:
Gino Florian vs Jimmy van Schie (NL)
David Fatum vs Dale McCarthy (IRL)
Charlie Harrison vs James Beeton (ENG)
Jeff Springer Jr vs Evander Stevenson (SCO
Jason Brandon vs Jannes Bremermann (D)
Leonard Gates vs Jeroen Caron (BEL)
Tom Sawyer vs Kimi Seemann (D)
Robbie Phillips vs Marcel Walpen (CH)
Dustin Holt vs Jonas Sveigaard Graversen (DK)

Despite some great efforts, only Aaja Jalbert managed to reach the knockout stages. Spare a though for poor Jen Mounts, though. Making her international debut, Jen ended up in perhaps the toughest section of all, and although finishing bottom of her group, ended with the 39th highest average of the day (out of 155 players). Her figures were good enough to have won several of the groups!

Aaja Jalbert vs Brynja Herborg (ICE)

The knockout rounds commence tomorrow (Thursday), and we will also see the early rounds of the youth events.
