The 11th Brydens Barbados Darts Festival 2 – 12 November 2013
Open to darts players, both men and women, of all standards and their partners, The Brydens Barbados Darts Festival is a proven winner with participants.
It offers a darts-orientated holiday in one of the most sought-after destinations on the planet.
The itinerary combines both social darts and tournament darts with prize money plus a social program designed to enable you to enjoy all that Barbados is justly famous for.
You will meet darts players from around the globe who share your common love of darts. Previous participants have come from the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Austria, Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, St Lucia, The Bahamas, Guyana, the Cayman Islands and, of course, Barbados.
The Festival Hotel, Rostrevor, has become a firm favorite with participants. Situated in the popular St Lawrence Gap, it is within walking distance of a variety of bars, restaurants, banks and shops – with Jobus, the social darts hub right across the street. And you will have a magnificent view of the ocean from your room – just yards away!
World Anti Doping Agency
The World Darts Federation (WDF) has been working hard over the past several years to have the sport of darts recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). To be recognized by the IOC, a sport must first be recognized by SportAccord. A few years ago, the WDF was successful in being recognized by SportAccord. The WDF is to darts what FIFA is to soccer and FIBA is to basketball. The WDF is currently applying for recognition from the IOC for the sport of Darts, and one of the many criteria for recognition is compliance with the rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). In order to meet this requirement, random drug testing must be done at a number of WDF tournaments each year.
As most of you that attended the WDF ranked Las Vegas Open know, members from the United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA) were in attendance. 3 male players and 1 female player were selected randomly to do the drug testing. Please note that this can happen at any WDF ranked event in any country and players will not be notified in advance.
For full information on the WDF anti-doping rules, visit the WDF website at:

American spot for 2014 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships
The 2014 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships will be played from Saturday, January 4th to Sunday, January 12th, 2014 and will be bigger and better than ever!
The largest ever field of 40 Men and 16 Women will be competing for the most prestigious titles in World Darts.
The first three World Professional Championships from 1978 to 1980 were contested by just 16 Men, but from 1981 to 2013 the field was 32 Men. The Women’s World Championship was introduced by the BDO in 2001 and has always been contested by 8 Women. Now it is being increased to 16 Women from the 2014 Lakeside World Professional onwards.
“This is a significant, exciting and progressive step forward”, says BDO Tournament Director Wayne Williams. “Not only does it illustrate the global increase in the higher standards of BDO and WDF players, but it also satisfies the growing TV audiences created by TV coverage from BBC, ESPN and Europsort.
“Needless to say, we are delighted to be providing even more valuable opportunities for our players – men and women – as we move the BDO forward and enhance the most prestigious Championships in world darts”.
The additional 8 Men for the 2014 World Pro will earn their places from competition within the worldwide regions of the WDF: Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Asia, Baltic & Scandinavia and the USA. All have regional ranking tables which are accessible on the BDO website from the Tables drop-down menu.
The remaining 32 players will come from the BDO Invitational Table, the World Professional International Play-Offs and include the Winmau World Masters Champion if not already qualified.
The 16 Women will come from the BDO Invitation Table, the World Professional International Play-Offs and include the Winmau World Masters Champion if not already Qualified.
The BBC contract for the BDO Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships has been extended by three years up to an including 2016.
